Swim Swag Story

Hi everybody! We are Missy and Hayes, and it is an honor to welcome you to the Swim Swag™ family! We wanted to give you a little background on who we are and why we started this small company, made by and for swimmers. 

My name is Missy Franklin Johnson, and I am originally from Denver, Colorado! I am a 5x Olympic Gold Medalist! I competed for the United States at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 London Olympic Games. I retired in 2018 due to a shoulder injury, and miss the water every single day! My husband, Hayes Johnson, is originally from Nashville, TN and swam at the University of Texas. He was a part of the National Championship winning team in 2010 and also represented the United States on the National Team in 2009. We met at Golden Goggles back in 2010, and became great friends! We began dating in 2017, got engaged in 2018, and were married on September 14th, 2019! We have a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog named Oliver, and we live in Denver, Colorado, just a couple hours away from my mom and dad!

Hayes and I feel beyond blessed every single day for everything that the sport of swimming gave us. The friends, the community, the travel around the world, and all the endless skills that we've brought with us into our "swammer" lives! Whether it is work ethic, passion, dedication, positivity, or so many others, we rely on the many life lessons that swimming has taught us to succeed in all of our endeavors outside of the water as well. 

We know that swimming does not quite have the same popularity as other sports. Not everyone understands working 4-6 hours a day, staring at a black line, to drop a tenth of a second at the end of the season... but we do. We wanted to create something for swimmers from all over to wear to show their pride in how hard they work doing what they love every single day. Swim Swag™ was created for swimmers to represent their strokes, their sport, and their passion.

We are so proud to be a part of this community, and giving back has always been at the heart of everything we do. In alignment with that belief, proceeds from every purchase of our hats (our first and original product) go back to the USA Swimming Foundation, the philanthropic branch of USA Swimming. So every hat purchase you make isn't just a gift for you or a friend, but a gift back into the swimming community. Personal relationships are also very important to us, and from the moment we've launched, we've tried to include personal handwritten notes in every package. Now that we are using a different supplier, your package itself may not have a personal note, but we will always do our best to still send a personalized note separately as our way of saying thank you, and recognizing you for your purchase and support!
